ANIMAS RIVER (COLORADO) FISHING REPORT AND CONDITIONS Located in southwestern Colorado. This is a freestone fishery beginning high in the mountains north of Silverton, Colorado and flowing south through the town of Durango and then on into New Mexico. The Animas River is Colorado's newest Gold Medal Trout water. This exceptional river has overcome its legacy of mining and has developed into a great fishery. A great population of rainbows, huge predatory brown trout, and great water make this river a pleasure to fish.
